Galapaghost (a.k.a Casey Chandler) plays Finland for the first time
Hailing from Woodstock, New York, Casey Chandler got his bachelor’s degree in music production from SUNY Purchase in 2009. He grew up being inspired by everything from Midlake to Simon & Garfunkel, Low Roar to Espers. After graduating, Chandler toured both North America and Europe for six months with John Grant, a stint which included a slot on the British television show “Later… With Jools Holland.”
He recorded his debut album, Runnin’ in his own bedroom in 2011 and released it in January 2012 on a small Italian label, Lady Lovely. Chandler had a successful Italian tour that same year to promote the record. He recorded a followup album, Dandelion, with Ru Catania (Africa Unite, Driving Dead Girl) and Federico Puttilli (Nadar Solo, Levante) which came out in October 2013.
His music was recently featured in a major Italian film called “Il Ragazzon Invisible” directed by Oscar winning director Gabriele Salvatores. Salvatores also commissioned Chandler to write the title track for the film which was featured on the official soundtrack. After a worldwide release it won a David Di Donatello award (The Italian Oscars equivalent). His third album I Never Arrived came out on January 9th, 2016. These days Casey Chandler lives in Austin, Texas where he continues to write music and plays frequent shows.
Rebecca Clamp (UK)
Rebecca Clamp is a singer songwriter pianist originally from Cambridge (UK) but now living in Finland. Noted for her passionate voice and idiosyncratic piano playing, she has a style which is entirely her own. Rebecca’s quirky lyrics examine the everyday from unusual perspectives: she draws you into a world where mobile phones run away to join nunneries and bearded female saints appear at five in the morning to give you advice on your love life. Her lyrical world is rich with the minutiae of life; insects, origami boats, smiles, and cigarette smoke in beams of light all flicker through her songs.
Since 2013, Clamp has been performing with Hans Wessels (Vallilan Tango, Towers of Romance) and they will be releasing a new album next month. Wessels brings ukulele, vocal harmonies, and some dark electronic arrangements to the songs.
